Monitor Groups

Monitor groups let you organize related monitors under a single rollup, giving you a high-level view of a service or system composed of multiple checks.

  1. Navigate to Monitors and click New Group.
  2. Enter a name for the group (e.g., “Payment Service” or “EU Region”).
  3. Click Save.

You can assign monitors to a group in two ways:

  • From the group: Open the group and click Add Monitors, then select the monitors to include.
  • From the monitor form: When creating or editing a monitor, select a group from the Group dropdown.

A monitor can belong to one group at a time.

The group’s status is determined by the worst status among its child monitors. For example:

Child Monitor StatesGroup Status
All UpUp
One Degraded, rest UpDegraded
One Down, rest UpDown
Mixed Degraded and DownDown

This rollup applies to both the monitors list page and status pages where the group is displayed.

On the monitors page, groups appear as collapsible rows. Click a group to expand it and see all child monitors with their individual statuses. Collapse the group to see only the rollup status, keeping the monitors list clean when you have many checks.
