SMS & Voice Consent
YipYap sends SMS messages and voice calls to notify users of monitoring alerts. All messages are transactional and directly related to the monitoring services the user has configured.
How Users Opt In
Section titled “How Users Opt In”Users opt in to SMS and voice notifications by adding their phone number as a notification channel in their account settings at console.yipyap.run/settings/channels.
Adding a phone number is a deliberate, manual action that requires the user to:
- Log in to their YipYap account.
- Navigate to Settings > Notification Channels.
- Click Add Channel and select SMS or Voice Call.
- Enter their phone number.
- Save the channel.
No phone numbers are collected automatically. Users must explicitly provide their number and choose to receive notifications.
What Messages Are Sent
Section titled “What Messages Are Sent”YipYap sends only alert-related messages:
- SMS: A brief message including the monitor name, status, severity, and a link to acknowledge the alert.
- Voice calls: An automated call announcing the alert and offering a keypress option to acknowledge it.
Messages are sent only when a monitor triggers an alert and the user’s phone number is part of the configured escalation policy. YipYap does not send marketing, promotional, or bulk messages.
How Users Opt Out
Section titled “How Users Opt Out”Users can stop receiving SMS and voice notifications at any time by:
- Navigating to Settings > Notification Channels.
- Deleting the SMS or Voice channel that contains their phone number.
Removal is immediate. No further messages will be sent to that number once the channel is deleted.
Message Frequency
Section titled “Message Frequency”Message frequency depends on the user’s monitoring configuration. Users control how often alerts fire through their monitor intervals, escalation policies, and maintenance windows. Typical usage ranges from zero to a handful of messages per day.
